These call outcomes are for faxes and modems connected to agents, or detected by a dialer (Fig. 3).

If faxes and modems are likely to be present in calling lists in large numbers, you may want to use detection equipment in a dialer to screen them out. However if the incidence of faxes and modems is low, you may choose to forgo the costs of implementing this detection, and allow agents to terminate such calls.
Ring times (Fig. 1) should be no more than a few seconds in each case, though our advice again is to check out what is typical for your calling lists in your territory. And dialer detection times (Fig. 2) should in all cases be no more than a couple of hundred milliseconds, since the vast majority of faxes and modems return pure hertz tones, that can be easily tested for; 2100 in the case of faxes and 1100 in the case of modems.
